How to play
Left side: hold the arrows to steer. Right side: hold GAS to go, BRAKE to slow. Press brake early and gently; slamming it costs points.
SIGNAL: tap the arrow for the direction you will turn, before you reach the intersection.
LOOK: tap it to check mirrors and blind spots. Do it at every stop sign and before backing up. Every 20 seconds while driving too.
Stop signs: most intersections are a full stop. Stop before the white line, tap LOOK, then go.
Traffic lights: the busy central intersections and the highway ramp have lights. Stop on red; stop on yellow if you can do it comfortably; a right turn on red is allowed only after a full stop with your signal on.
Pedestrians: wait until they are fully across.
Speed: stay near 25 mph. Too slow is scored the same as too fast.
Park / Reverse / Neutral / Drive: shift only when stopped. Park locks the transmission; Neutral coasts; the parking brake (PB) holds the wheels on any slope. When you stop for good: shift to Park, then set the parking brake.
Parking: stop, shift to R, tap LOOK, back in slowly, finish within about 18 inches of the curb, then press PARK.
POV view (tap TOP/POV, top bar): you sit in the driver's seat with a rear-view mirror and two side mirrors. Drag on the screen left or right to turn your head and check blind spots; hold LOOK BACK to look out the rear window when reversing. At stop signs you must look both left and right.
Traffic: other cars drive their lanes at about 25 mph and stop at every stop sign. At a 4-way stop the car that arrived first goes first; wait for the intersection to clear. If you sit too long or crawl, they honk, and it counts as holding up traffic. Cars also yield to pedestrians, so watch for them. (Traffic is off in the Parking Lab.)
Driving feel: the car has real weight. Releasing GAS makes it coast and slow down (engine braking), and it creeps forward on its own at idle, so hold BRAKE to stay stopped. Brake pressure builds the longer you hold it. GAS is pressure sensitive: press near the top of the pedal for full power, lower for gentle. Steering builds the longer you hold and eases back when you let go, and gets calmer at speed. The car tops out near 85 mph.
Highway Run: out of the neighborhood the limit steps up 25, 40, 55 mph. Keep right except to pass. To change lanes: signal, check mirrors and look over your shoulder (or tap LOOK), then move over smoothly. Leave 2 to 3 seconds behind the car ahead. Turn around at the plaza at the far end and drive home.
Rotate your phone upright for the best view. A hit on anything solid ends the test.
